In the family share project myself and my network had to call and e-mail different companies to ask if they wanted to donated to us. Unfortunately we either got turned down and hung up on. 18. As a student this has opened my eyes to see that there is people in our communities that need help. I was able to give a unlucky family the best Christmas this year. This project made me think of the kids around the world that don't have food to eat, water to drink, or shoes to wear. When I get older i would like to travel to Africa and help the kids with anything possible. As a globe student it made me be more eye open about things. How not to take things for grant when many kids don't have it. This was a great experience for me , I would love to do another kind of this project.

  23. This project made me realize how many families cant afford things. I think its very sad that families cant give their kids the Christmas they wish to. I'm happy we were able to help them out with what they received from us. This project helped me a lot in my communication skills. calling different stores was very difficult at first because I was scared to talk and ask for donations. But after a few No's, I realized that we were going to get plenty more. But we didn't stop trying. Practicing on calling people now is good because its something that were gonna need to know how to do a lot in the future.

I can help people outside of my community by making phone calls and emails to people who can donate to them.

  26. I think that this family share project has helped me grow as a student and global citizen because I now know that many people in different places all around the world and in our own community aren't as fortunate to get the things that they want for Christmas. By calling and emailing a lot of companies and stores I have noticed that many things don't go your away and you can get rejected like we have been when we call. Also, that everything has a time limit, like when its due and its your job to get everything together like we didn't have a lot of things together to donate but at the last minute we did get a lot of donations. Also, I noticed that giving an unfortunate family things makes you feel better. That's how I have grown as a student and global citizen.

It also makes me feel good about myself helping a family that needed help. This project also helped me turn into a more global citizen. It helped me to learn multiple perspectives since I knew how it felt to be poor hoping a stranger would help help by donating goods. 39. The Christmas Family share project let me see clearly that as a student when you put your effort to something you can complete it well or even better. As a Global Citizen I saw that you can help others when you dedicate your time to it and that many lives of people in need can change if you just help out with anything. My group and I got many toys and clothes and toys from different places. Everything worked out because we all worked together as a team to make a change and to get a good grade.

  41. The Christmas Family share project was a very good experience. We got the chance to help a family who needed the extra help. We asked churches and stores to help us and donate food, clothes, toys and a Christmas tree for the family. During this project i was a Global Citizen by helping others. While we worked on this project we just thought about how happy the family will be when they see there new things. By thinking that it motivated us to work harder. On Saturday when we saw the family open there presents and look at there Christmas tree there faces were surprised and happy. My family had 3 boy and 1 girl the little girl looked at me and just says thank you. When i left that day i told my self my trying hard and working hard i can succeed in life.

I and my group collaborated together to gather goods for this needy family. As a student I think this is good practice doing this because as we grow up we would get to see that families need our assistance in occasions like these. There expressions on there faces were very happy. My group and I put all the effort for this family to reach the most marvelous Christmas ever. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it for the family. I think this project is the best one so far!!

  46. This family share project made me a global citizen because it gave me a big understanding that not all families actually have the money to have a Christmas. My network and I gathered many items that the family will need and gave the items to them. Christmas time is a happy time of the year and many families can't afford items for their children, friends, family, etc. So my network adopted a family and we made them very happy with all of the items we have gave them. As a student, I believe this is a great experience because in the future, what if we need to do this again. We would already have the experience to do this and be prepared.

  49. This family share project has made me more of a global student because I realized that not everyone can afford and have money for the holiday season; even in our community. My group and I got the opportunity to adopt a family to give them presents, food, money, a Christmas tree, and some of their daily necessities. It has helped me as both a global citizen and student because I learned many ways on how to communicate with others in our community. We had to call companies and stores and sound professional so they would actually believe us. We also had to email people sounding professional. I know that this is going to help me in the future because I will need to know how to communicate with people the proper way.

Even if I didn't went to the event I already see the kids and parents so happy because of we didn't do this thing they should of not got anything for Christmas. 63. It was a really fun project but it needed a lot of work to be done.We called a lot of people who didn't want to donate. But there were some people who did want to donate but it was a little. We got some stuff especially Anna and Karla who got a lot of sweaters. I called some people but they didn't want to donate or you have to go to corporate which takes a month.

  68. The family share project was amazing. Last year, we couldn't meet the family but this time we did. We brought joy to the family but we couldn't get the scooter. We need more time, money, and companies to stop hanging up on us. One way it helped me to become a better student was when i learned how to communicate with companies in a professional way to say. Also when we worked together to get gifts for the kids and to make posters. This experience was really fun and amazing even though we didn't get everything the family wanted.

  69. I really enjoyed taking the time to help out this families to have a wonderful Christmas this year. Even thou we got rejected by some companies we still made it happen with what we could. We didn't receive as much donations as expected but it was better than nothing. I wasn't able to go to Saturday and give out our things but from the pictures and what classmates told me, it went great!

  70. The family share project was fun. This project has helped me grow as a student in knowledge. Before I did this project I did not know that most stores have a corporate policy about donations. Now I know that you have to contact the corporate office in advance to be able to receive donations. This project helped me grow as a global citizen in the domain of taking action. Before I was timid to talk to a stranger to ask for donations or help. Now I can better talk to a stranger for say a manager and not be shy to ask.

  71. As a student, this project has made me grow because we had a lot of responsibilities we had to take care of and it taught me to be on top of things. It was fun trying to call the companies and ask for their help. At the end of the day, we didn't get donations from other companies. Together we pitched in money and bought the family presents ourselves. By that we learned to work together as a group. It helped me grow as a global citizen because I helped a family that needed help during the holidays and it made me feel good about myself. My network really did work together to try to get everything done.

  77. This project was really fun but yet sad because the families don't have the money and or supplies to give their children ... So then my group and gathered some supplies as blankets, scarfs, clothes and food supplies. I thought my group did a successful job we all got to gather a bit of everything to give those families in need. At the end we all decided to give a little bit of everything to some groups because we didn't adopt a family so we gave a bit of everything to the rest of the groups and the groups that I have gone to made their family very happy and made them cry and I thought it was so cute.

  78. The family share project taught me that some families don't have the same Christmas everybody else does. That some can't afford to buy their kids and gifts. I liked the project because it gave us a chance to help other families.

  79. The family share project was a really fun experience. This project made me realize how us as teenagers can make a difference in people's life's. Seeing all of the families faces brighten up with holiday joy was more than enough to make me and my group feel accomplished with our task. Even though my group did not adopt a family we helped the other groups by distributing the things we had gathered between all of them. Many of the other groups did not have many things collected, with our help they helped a family have a wonderful Christmas.

  81. The family share project was a real big change in my life and was a very cool experience although i have always helped the families in Panda land it was cool to work with other people to help the families. Even though we helped the family we had no donations we each donated the family with stuff that we bought. I went to the store and bought the clothes for the kids. Even though i spent the money for the clothes i know it went for a good cause.I hope the Alvarez family enjoyed there Christmas with the stuff we donated.

  84. The family share project was really fun to do. I also liked the idea of doing something nice for a family in need. It was nice to get shoes for a little boy and girl. The shoes that I had gotten them were from my own money. The shoes were not donated by any organization. Mostly everything that our network got was from our own money and it was nice to get them something from our own money. I also have been grateful that the school does something like this every year just to put a smile on a families face.

  85. This family share project was a good experience. I love the feeling of helping out someone who really needs it. This is a project I would definately love to do every year or maybe even on our own. Even though i couldn't make to to the actual event I'm really pleased with the reactions that people came back from it. The only thing I would change about this project is probably getting a little bit more time on it but other then that it was really great!

  86. The family shared project definitely made me a better student and a better global citizen. It made me grow as a student because i learned how to correctly ask for companies cooperation and the community in this project. I also learned how to be a better student by learning how to communicate in general and to do team work to have things done on time. This project also made me become a better citizen because i was able to help a family by trying hard to give them presents in order for them to have the best Christmas ever. This project also helped me grow as a global citizen because i had the opportunity to defeat my shyness in order for me to be brave enough to go around the community to ask for donations and to also be brave enough to call companies. the donations that i made also made me grow as a citizen and as a student because i had to find ways to get the presents for the kinds somehow and i learned about responsibility in that way. Also with the donations that i made i grew as a citizen because i tried my best to give those kids their presents, so i decided to donate toys.

I was able to gather things for them and give that family a better Christmas. I went from store to store asking to please donate anything they can for a family that we adopted. I was happy to help a family that really doesn't have the best holiday of the year. I think it made the adopted family feel awesome and happy because they got many presents which is something they never get. The family share project went very well and the family we adopted had a great time.

  93. This family share project helped me become a better student and more aware globally. I learned how to take problems around my community more seriously. I also learned some new skills for the later future like how to talk professionally and send professional emails. This project was really enjoyable and nerve wrecking because we were scared about not getting anything for our family. In the end we gathered enough resources. Although the mom of our family had an expression on her face that looked it said we could have done better but I was satisfied with our work because we worked really hard to gather our resources. I really want to do another project like this because they're educational as well as enjoyable. We worked hard and ended up gathering more things then we expected and that really mad me happy.

I had a lot of fun at the Family Share Project. It was a great experience and everybody got something out of it. But the families we adopted got more out of it than we did. What we got out of it was that really great feeling knowing that we gave a family a better Christmas. The family that my network and I adopted had 2 little girls and 2 little boys and a mom. We had lots of presents and food for the family. This also helped me grow as a Global Citizen in many ways.

This project was pretty stressful because it was my job to make my family the best Christmas they ever had. Doing this project I had a lot of worries and concerns about gathering resources and the Christmas tree. But it all paid off once we got to see the smiles on Wendy and Lizded faces. It was a wonderful moment, even the mom started to cry. I'm proud that our group gathered food and everything on their wish list. I'm glad we got to do this project.
